A company I once worked for sent me to Japan to train on some new computer technology. It cost them thousands of dollars for that 11-day trip. (It was company policy to spend big bucks when sending their representatives overseas--even when said rep is a lowly technical writer.) When I returned, I was full of knowledge and enthusiasm. I was ready to write manuals and set up service training seminars. But nobody was interested. All they wanted was a report summarizing my trip. Not wanting it to be a total loss, I wrote that report--which was dry and technical--then wrote this unofficial report for my friends and cow orkers.
